go to control panel

It will be a mandatory/automatic upgrade soon, so removing it is only a temporary fix. Find out what's wrong with your laptop %26amp; fix it.

Ie you wanted to nail a bit of wood and you dont have a hammer.......?microsoft downloads internet explorerThanks and lmao.. Lee you wont do ole boy.. Who loves you ? Report It

If you don't have a hammer, you can substitute the hammer with other hard objects e.g. a hard wooden plank, a metal pillar esp. those unwanted plumbing pillars or even the back end of some hard shoes/clogs. Don't use your fav. good shoes.

But buying a hammer isn't that expensive. It will come in handy too. Else just borrow it from your neighbor %26amp; remember to include your Please %26amp; Thank You's ;)
ha ha... yes that would hurt. Crazy critter
My We are in a good mood so late at night...

Not really, that is why there is anesthesia.

IE restricts web pages I make on my computer from running scripts or active x....?

I get the message across the top of the web page BUT the pages I create are completly blank with no scripting or active x.

I even created a new text document, labeled it "test.html" then opened it in I.E. and I still get that message.

I do NOT get that message with most internet sites and have the security settings set as the same for both Internet and Intranet.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

What can I do.

Are you sure it's a script error? I know sometimes when a broswer dosn't know how to view a file type it will try to download it. Thus causing the little yellow box at the top saying something about security settings.

The reason the broswer gives this error is because of the some what new feature that Microsoft has place in IE to cut down on spam and viruses.

You said you made a test.html right?

%26lt;html%26gt;

%26lt;head%26gt;%26lt;title%26gt;%26lt;/title%26gt;%26lt;/head%26gt;

%26lt;body%26gt;

%26lt;/body%26gt;

%26lt;/html%26gt;

If this was what your test.html file had in it and it still gave you the error then I don't what is wrong. Try your site on another computer because it might be your broswer.

The only way to test this is to try your site on another computer using IE. Yeah the DocTypes are a good idea too... Report It

Oh BTW thanks for the best answer. Report It

if you add a doctype that might stop it, IE relies heavily on the doc type definition to know how it should display a page.

but what you defiantly want to do is add a mark of the web:

%26lt;!-- saved from url=(0014)about:internet --%26gt;

this would go after the doctype if you add one but before the opening html tag

IE works, as well as everything else with internet except FireFox, any idea why?

help

IE works, as well as everything else with internet except FireFox, any idea why?windows vista ultimate

Because the *** hats at Microsoft wrote it and they don't like accepting "other" formats - incidently Firefox uses OPEN standards IE DOES NOT!

IE works, as well as everything else with internet except FireFox, any idea why?default browser internet explorer

IE and FF are both good browsers. FF has had more security fixes than IE over the past year, but they both have acceptable security features. Some websites don't work with FF. Some websites are broken with IE and FF.

Both adhere to standards, but www standards for browsers are a work in progress.

If you are building websites, make sure they work with IE and FF, and with Safari if you want mac people to enjoy your site. There are good tools around to make stuff work with different browsers.

Some people have both browsers. Use the one you like best and don't forget to keep it well patched.
Do you have a firewall? Enable firefox to access the network.

Is it installed properly? Try uninstall then reinstall.

IE will not open new window when I click on links, I can right click and open in new tab, any help?

this only happens if link requires a new window, I can open in new tab but right clicking, this is very frustrating and not sure if I inadvertently made a change to my browsing, I am open to suggestions.

If these answers don't resolve your question which could be numerous things...Windows update would be your first port of call....An un-install and re-install is the next best thing..

If that fails you could always install another browser..Firefox is the most popular, free and much much better and you can import all your I.E bookmarks...

In the Tabs section, click SETTINGS

The Tabbed Browsing Settings dialog box appears.

Make the desired settings changes

OPTIONAL: To restore default tab settings, click RESTORE DEFAULTS

To save changes and close, click OK

To cancel changes and close, click CANCEL

To close the Internet Options dialog box, click OK

IE keeps coming up Do you want to allow Active X Contols and Plug ins to run?

I push "yes" and it keeps poppin up. How do I get rid of this annoying notice? Driving me NUTS!!!

IE keeps coming up Do you want to allow Active X Contols and Plug ins to run?windows 98

Push "no."

Active-X controls can load programs that put viruses on your computer, so the browser gives you the option to exclude them. Like sex, the odds are in your favor - but every once in a while, you could get a bad dose.
